Picao is one of Shreveport's police dogs. |
Tens of thousands more. It's true.
To be fair, dogs don't even come close to what the city pays out for car crashes, sewage spills and other accidents. But it was surprising to me that man's best friend cost the city anything at all - let alone more than those pesky slip and falls.
On Sunday the Shreveport Times will reveal how much dog and other lawsuits are costing taxpayers.
The story also will include two databases at The Times' Data Center revealing details about all lawsuits and settlements made by Shreveport in the last five years.
In the meantime, ponder this: How much are golf carts costing the city? Yes, I said golf carts. You'll find the answer in the data we publish on Sunday. I promise you will find it interesting.
